Silence

BlueSkyMB

Silence truly is golden. It is nourishing. It is essential. In the silence we can connect, centre, listen. In the silence we can begin to hear that “still small voice” within – the voice of Spirit, of our Soul.

So many think they should be socialising, generally in company and chatting.  They think this is the right way to be – there’s something wrong with you if you want time on your own, if you want to go to bed early, or have a quiet night at home on your own, or don’t want to go to a particular social event or not drink alcohol.

Spending time with others, being in relationship, is very important but, so too, is time alone. It’s all about balance. It’s also about learning to be true to yourself and not going with the crowd – feeling wrong if you think differently.

So much of life can be filled with distractions. So much of life can be numbing out.  We waste a lot of time.

In the silence we can begin to hear that “still small voice” of our Soul speaking to us, loving us, guiding us. This is our compass in life. This is where we need to be checking in – not with what others think or what the world tells us is important if you want to fit in, be cool, be liked.

Take time to sit in silence. Feel the stillness.

Take time to sit and quiet your mind. Slow down. Breathe. Become conscious of the inner you.

Light a candle and sit in silence, stillness, peace.

Find time in your day to play some uplifting music and feel the vibrations of the music touch your Soul.

Take time to be in Nature – walking, gardening, or just being out in Nature, connecting with the beauty, the wonder of our earth and world.

Make space in your day, in your life, to be still, to listen, to connect. “Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks within, awakens.” Carl Jung

Living Your Day

Yellowgrassbeachsea

What I do with my life, with my time here, really matters. Life is a precious opportunity and the only thing we take with us when we leave is our Spiritual growth.

Some people experience having too much to do in a day – the day isn’t long enough. Others would say that they have nothing to get up for. We can change these experiences and live a full, ordered and meaningful life.

Just as the Universe is based on order and rhythm – which we rely on – so we need to have order in the way we live our life. Structure, Order, Rhythm, Discipline – these are essential to life. Without these we just drift along, often experiencing overwhelm and wasting a lot of time.

When we work to develop these qualities we use time efficiently, we become much more organised and so we have more time available to us.

Discipline is a word many don’t like and many would say they are not the discipline type. But discipline is something you build, you develop, and it’s essential to progressing and growing. We need it and we all have the ability to develop it.

Discipline is ordered activity – it’s you choosing to set up order and routines in your life so that you have a sense of the overall structure of your day. People can see routine as boring but routine means you fit in so much more and experience a lot more efficiency. You don’t waste time over and over as a result of forgetting, or losing stuff or your energy being scattered. Living your day – structure, order, rhythm

Every day we need time to be still and to connect with our Soul, with Spirit in meditation. Every day we need time to journal so that we understand more and can use our minds to manage our emotions [rather than be run by them] and to resolve issues. Every day we need time to focus on lofty, uplifting, inspiring thoughts and ideas. These need to be the foundation of our day, our sustenance giving us the focus we need to live our day and keep growing in love.

These need to be part of our daily structure and will make all the difference. It can seem at first like an impossibility to fit all of this in but if you realise its importance and are prepared to schedule these in [giving yourself time to work out a routine and yet also being firm], you will do it.

Moving into Soul Consciousness Part 2

vals-rosesmbfeb2017

One of the steps to Soul Consciousness, is using our power to think – stop and think about things in the light of your Soul rather than give your power away to fear. For example when you have a problem, a challenge, sit quietly and ask Spirit and your Higher Self to help you to discern what you are to learn from this lesson/challenge and how to manage this challenge in the best way.

Another important step is to see everything as a lesson, challenge and opportunity. If it’s coming to you it’s because you need it and if you take it this way, you will learn and grow from it and not be a victim of it. You will turn a seeming negative into a positive.

This is about not blaming and not seeing things outside of self as the cause of suffering. The suffering is caused by our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, interpretations, the stories we live by. Keep reminding yourself of this. The other may have behaved in an inappropriate manner or the situation you are faced with may be a difficult one, but if you accept it as coming to you as a lesson, you will take charge rather than feel powerless and stuck in it – and repeating the same experience.  Lessons are to help us. They are not to make life difficult – though that is how we most often see them.

Another step to Soul consciousness is building Soul powers or virtues. This means focusing on a Soul power such as love, joy, gratitude, willpower and so forth for say 7 days, meditating on it, practising it in daily life, learning from the lessons it brings to you [lessons come to help you to strengthen this power, this principle, in you so that when you are challenged you can call it in]. It means replacing vices with virtues. For example, you feel angry or resentful and you replace this with love. It’s also good in these situations to journal about the cause of your anger or resentment – not to just brush it under the carpet. You are learning to see it as your own anger and what needs clearing and healing rather than blaming it on outside causes.

The Lower Nature and Our Higher Nature

Copy of sun-150x150

We have a lower nature and a higher nature. The lower nature is the part of me that is self-centred – relating everything to myself.  It’s the part of me that is all concerned with what I like and don’t like; with what I want and don’t want; with whether I’m happy, at ease, feeling safe, feeling liked. It’s the part of me that blames and complains, judges and criticises, gets caught in superiority or inferiority, shame and guilt. All of these are the result of the false belief that I am a physical body, an ego, separate. The belief in separation causes the fear and self concern.

We have 3 bodies – the physical body, the emotional body and the mental body.  When the lower nature rules the physical body we might eat and drink whatever we like without any thought as to what is good for the body and how to look after it.

When the lower nature rules the emotional body we allow ourselves to be run by our emotions. We react to people and situations and experience constant inner and outer conflict. Fear seems so real.

When the lower nature rules the mental body we have constant negative, separative, fear-based thoughts.

When the lower nature is ruling we very often feel powerless, a victim, tossed around by the storms of life. We are rudderless, without clear direction.

Our work is to master our 3 bodies – to understand that we need to take charge of our bodies rather than allow them to run us. Our higher nature expresses the qualities and aspirations of our Soul.

Some months ago I had a very clear experience of this choice between the higher and lower nature. There was a misunderstanding and as I walked downstairs to get something, I thought to myself, oh Gill, lesson, challenge, opportunity and I smiled. I could see so clearly my choice to react back and aim to be top dog or to choose love. I thought to myself, why would I want to make another person feel small. It’s not to say there wasn’t negativity in the behaviour of the other person but if I want to build my higher nature and stop being run by my lower nature then I need to sacrifice my lower nature.  I need to higher the frequencies of my bodies by seeking to learn and grow and improve, by practising the qualities and powers of my Soul.

Managing Fear, Worry and Anxiety

YellowtulipsMB

Truly fear has such a hold over the world, over each one of us. We think it is so real. Fear is false evidence appearing real. Worry is a deeply ingrained habit for many people – and yet worry is simply negative affirmation.  It depletes the worrier and is of no help to the one worried about. Why not pray for the person you are worried about? I also ask ArchAngel Michael to protect someone I could be pulled to worry about and then I practise trust.  Worry is of no help to anyone and simply causes a sense of powerlessness.  Anxiety, too, is so prevalent.

I will often say to myself, do not give in to fear, Gill. Fear grows and increases in strength as we feed it.  It disempowers us, limits us, paralyses us.

It’s very important to become aware of your fears – to write about them in your journal, what they are and why these things bring up fear for you.  Our fears control us so long as we avoid looking at them and dealing with them. Avoidance is fear’s best friend.

Fear is the effect of our belief that we are a physical body, an ego, separate.  We have forgotten who we are and why we are here. We can’t really begin to change the hold fear has over us until we choose to take on our Spiritual path and connect with our Soul, our Higher Self and the purpose of life.

When you begin to connect daily and frequently with your Higher Self and ask for help and guidance, you begin to understand how you are never alone, you are never on your own. You are always loved, supported and guided.  When you see every lesson as a challenge and opportunity to grow, you learn more and more about the love, wisdom and power that are within you – but you need to claim them and build them. When you deny the fear thought entry to your mind and instead choose to focus on and build love, trust, peace and so forth, your connection to your Soul and all the powers of your Soul, grows and strengthens.

The soul is imprisoned in the physical body so long as we believe and live as if we are a physical body and separate. When we begin to connect with our Soul and practise Soul energies such as love, joy, peace, gratitude, abundance and so forth, we begin to live as a Soul and to experience life through the perspective of our Soul. This is who we are.

What is the Purpose of Life?

PurpleflowersingrassMB

More and more I see this as being a deeply important question for us to ask and to talk about together. Everyone needs a sense of purpose, to have a purpose in life.

Without purpose, you are rudderless, unclear about your direction – simply latching onto whatever comes by.  You get more and more stuck in the material world – filling up time with busy-ness, with having to have something to look forward to, with distractions.

You’re busy just getting through life.

Look at what happens when we get sick. We’ll do anything to hold onto life. Why? This is an important question. Why do I want to live longer, extend my life? What is it I want to do with my life?

Einstein said I don’t want my life artificially prolonged. He was content to make his transition and move on to the next part of his journey when that time came. He wasn’t holding on to life for the sake of it. He believed his work for this life was completed. This takes courage. We need to talk about these matters.

So people fill their lives. Alcohol helps to fill the void, drugs too. They are ways to keep up the illusion. It’s part of the numbing out.

TV, too, and screens generally – they fill up space nicely – otherwise what? Yet we need to realise that the violent, sexual and dramatic programmes and films we look at, disturb our minds, emotions and physical bodies.

It’s time to wake up and choose what you want your life to be about – this will make a whole big difference to how you live and where you put your energy.

You are here for a purpose. Each of us has a part to play in our world and each part is very important. Just think, when you choose to not entertain negative thoughts and instead fill your mind and heart with love, you feel so much better [filled with the energy of love instead of negativity] and you send the energy of love out into the world, into mass consciousness, instead of the negativity. The more each one of us practises this, the more we fill mass consciousness with Soul energy and transform the sea of negative energy.

Life is a Spiritual path and the purpose of life is to live in Soul consciousness.

Your Energy

Copy of sun-150x150

The programmes you watch on TV, the films you sit through, affect your energy. If they are inspiring, they lift your energy. If they are violent, abusive, they churn up your feelings. If you go to bed after violent programmes, your sleep is not restful and restorative.

Observe yourself and others after violent, abusive programmes. Become aware of the effects of these types of programmes. Think about why you look at them – really give time to thinking about this – and decide to consciously choose what you will look at and what you will not. Violent programmes increase fear/attack thoughts and emotions in you. We don’t need more fear, aggression, violence in our world.

Think about what helps you to feel peaceful and calm – really give time to thinking about this and writing about it in your journal. Choose to make more time for these in your life and make sure you do. Observe the difference it makes to you when you spend time in activities that increase peace and calm energy in you.

Becoming aware of energy is really important. You may feel low energy and think that you are tired. You tell yourself you are tired and your body responds with tiredness. Instead, take your journal and ask yourself why your energy is low. What has been going on for you – in your thoughts, in your feelings? Negative thoughts and feelings are a main cause of tiredness or low energy. They drain your energy.

Check out what you have been eating and drinking because all food and beverages have their effect. Some energise your body whilst others rob you of energy and stamina.

If you are waking up tired, with little energy for the day, you can change this. Look at your diet and eating habits generally and see what needs changing. Write about it. Then think about other causes of low energy on waking up. Have you a plan for the day, a structure? Is there something going on for you, something challenging you, that you are not attending to? Are you generally stressed and not feeling in charge of your life? Take your journal and ask your Higher self to help you to understand the cause of your low energy on waking up.

Life is a precious opportunity and you need to become more aware of what’s going on for you, what’s bothering you, what needs changing and adjusting rather than just go doggedly on, ignoring, avoiding and thinking the cause of your low energy is outside of yourself.
